thank you for this initiative you took for expressing young Europeans’ feelings on the issue of unpaid internships, and even worse, the lack of real jobs. I am in the same position as you are right now. I am 22, just graduated and working as an unpaid intern at the UNHCR in Cyprus. This is my fourth internship. I sent about 60 applications for jobs in the EU in the months before graduation, with not a single reply. Please, let your initiative be heard across Europe. Help us tell politicians that we are struggling to survive – only the affluent can work, as only the affluent can take the most competitive internships, which are unpaid or minimally sponsored, that do lead to a good job placement. As you said, we are all educated, ready to work, and give to our countries. Keep in mind that the issue you are raising is far larger than just Italy. I have friends from Germany, Sweden, Bulgaria, France, all telling me the same things – they cannot get a salary through an internship, as internships have begun leading nowhere – just like our degrees. Keep up the good work, and wishing you the best for your future.
